Flatwater Paddling Yukon Society was officially incorporated on December 28, 2016, in order to expand opportunities for flatwater paddling for Yukoners. FPY is accredited as the Flatwater Sport Governing Body for the Territory and a member of Canoe Kayak Canada.
Current Programs:
CanoeKids Camps - Fun-filled day camp for campers 8-13 years old. Campers are introduced to canoeing, kayaking, dragon boating, water safety, paddle boarding, and more.
Regatta Ready Sprint Program - 2 week sessions of full-day training camps for athletes ages 10 -16 who want to train in sprint canoe-kayak and compete at regattas.
Sprint Training - Evening training sessions for athletes ages 11 to 21 interested in competing in sprint canoe-kayak.
Flatwater Paddling Yukon Athletes are raising money to cover the travel expenses for their competitions this summer. Athletes are planning on competing in regattas in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg and Maple Ridge this season.
One Saturday, June 3, paddlers will take part in the Icebreaker Race beginning at 11 a.m. The Icebreaker Race is a fun, community race for paddlers of all ages. The race starts at Marsh Lake Dam and paddlers travel on the Yukon River 28 km to Schwatka Lake boat launch.
