6th Annual Cowichan River Youth Kayak Festival - FULL

The Object
To introduce youth aged 12 to 18 to the sport of whitewater kayaking in a safe and fun environment.

This festival is based on the Cowichan River in the Horseshoe Bend area of Cowichan River Provincial Park, Near Duncan BC.

Schedule
Friday, April 13
4 p.m. - 6 p.m.: Check in and set up at campsite (Horseshoe Bend Group Campsite)
7 p.m. - 9 p.m.: Introductory safety in the pool – Cowichan Aquatic Centre, Duncan
9:30 p.m.: Return to campsite

Saturday, April 14
9:30 a.m.: Be ready to paddle and meet at shelter
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: On-water session #1
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Lunch
2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. On-water session #2
6:00 p.m.: Dinner at campsite

Sunday, April 15
9:30 a.m.: Be ready to paddle and meet at shelter
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: On-water session #1
12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.: Lunch
1:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: On-water session #2
3:30 p.m.: Clean-up, awards, acknowledgements

Who should participate?

Any youth aged 12 to 18 regardless of experience. We will be providing equipment and instruction for total beginners right up to advanced whitewater paddlers.

Cost
$100 per youth for CKBC members, $110 for non members
There is a late fee ($25) for registration after March 31.

Includes:
Breakfast and dinner Saturday
Breakfast Sunday
Instruction, Camping fees, pool fees, (there is some equipment available if needed).
