Fraser Valley & Vancouver Coastal Regional Trials

4 athletes from Fraser Valley and Vancouver Coastal Region.

Selection Trials

June 2-3 starting at 10 a.m.
Main Beach at Cultus Lake, in Chilliwack BC

Eligible Athletes

Ages 12-16 – must be born in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006

Must reside in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Coastal Region of BC and be a member of Canoe Kayak BC.

Individuals must register themselves for the trials registration at www.canoekayakbc.ca no later than May 28, 2018.

There is no fee for the event.

Athletes may attend a second BC Summer Games to compete in Train to Train singles events ONLY if at the first Games they competed in Learn to Train singles events ONLY. Athletes may not attend more than two BC Summer Games to participate in CanoeKayak.

Ineligible Athletes

Athletes who have qualified for a single final at the previous year's National Championship are ineligible to participate in a subsequent BC Summer Games. Athletes who have competed in a Western Canada Summer Games or a Canada Summer Games in Canoe Kayak are ineligible to compete at a subsequent BC Summer Games.

Boats

Paddlers may use a Mini, entry-level or racing K1 as appropriate or a Clipper Jensen Canoe. Clubs are responsible for providing boats for their athletes.

Events

Athletes must enter a minimum of the two races in their category.

Selection Criteria

All events are direct finals with points awarded based on fastest times.

The Selection Committee will make the final decision based on age, development of athletes, gender and team blend to ensure that all athletes have multiple competitive opportunities at the Games.

1st=20 pts    5th=12 pts    8th=6 pts
2nd=18 pts   6th=10 pts    9th=4 pts
3rd=16 pts    7th=8 pts    10th=2 pts
4th=14 pts

Upon Selection to the Team (Athletes and Coaches)

A $225 registration fee is to be paid by each athlete participant upon making the team. This covers the cost of transportation to/from & during the Games, boat rental/use and transportation, accommodation/food while at the Games and your Zone competition shirt.

Canoe Kayak BC will pay this to the BC Games Society then invoice each club at a later date.

Athletes and coaches are asked to provide the following information to the Zone Rep for registration:

Date of Birth
Home Address & Mailing Address (if different)
Role – athlete, coach, substitute, etc.
NCCP # – for coaching staff
Travel to the Games – if travel is required, a pick-up/drop-off location must be indicated for each participant
Aboriginal Ancestry
School (athletes/substitutes only) – enter the name of the school last attended 2015/2016
Shirt Size – for Zone competition shirt
