Below is a brief description of the Western Canadian Championships Regatta that the Calgary Canoe club will be hosting in mid July; more detailed information including the race entry forms will be sent in a few weeks.
1. Fees: The two day regatta fee is expected to be around $30.00 per athlete.
2. Event List: At this point in time, we plan to offer events in canoe and kayak, for the age range of pee-wee to masters, over 200m, 500m and 1000m distances. Not all distances will be raced in each age range.
3. Canteen: Snacks and drinks will be available on site both regatta days. We are planning to provide some healthy food; we’ll provide a list of the types about 1 week before the regatta.
4. Security: We will arrange for regatta site security for the evenings of July 16 and July 17.
5. Scratch Meeting: July 16, 7:00 pm at the Calgary Canoe Club’s Meeting Hall.
6. Volunteers: We need some help with officiating. Please ask the parents of your athletes if they would like to assist for a half of full day shift. Contact Leon Schiebel at [email protected] if you can help out.
7. Accommodations: Mount Royal University has rooms available for out of town teams. The university is approximately 4 km from the Canoe Club; it is not within walking distance. Rooms are $25 per night per person, plus taxes. The contact details are in the attached PDF.
