DESCRIPTION:Greetings all\,
\n
\nSeattle Canoe and Kayak Club is pleased to
invite you to the 33rd annual Ted Houk Memorial Regatta on June 2nd and 3r
d\, 2012. Information for this regatta is attached\, and posted on the SCK
 C website:
\n
\nhttp://www.seattlecanoeclub.org/ted-houk-regatta-2012
\n
\n
In a departure from previous years\, registration will be entirely online t
his year. Details of the registration and invoicing procedures will be sent
out shortly. Early registration will close on May 23rd\, after which date
entry fees will be doubled. To streamline the scratch meeting on June 1st
there will be a virtual scratch meeting on May 26th. The exact time and a
ccess details will be provided shortly.
\n
\nNo individual athlete waivers
are required for this event. It is the responsibility of each club to ensu
re that their athletes are members of either USAC/K (event or yearly) or Ca
noe Kayak Canada. USACK event-only memberships\, if required\, should not
be submitted to SCKC\, but mailed directly to USAC/K.
\n
\nWe will have a v
oluntary program of boat control at this regatta. Our current intentions ar
e to have pre-regatta boat control on Friday evening\, during the scratch m
eeting\, with post-race checks throughout the regatta. As noted\, boat cont
rol will be voluntary\, with no impact on race results. We welcome your com
ments on whether you view boat control as a desirable feature of this regat
ta\, and how boat control should be handled during the regatta to best prep
are your athletes for regattas in which boat control is a formal requiremen
 t.
\n
\nWe will\, once again\, be providing a wonderful Saturday night di
 nner for all event participants\, coaches\, families\, officials\, voluntee
rs and supporters. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
\n
\n
\nBil
 leting:
\n
\nThe Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club encourages all visiting teams
and individual athletes to take advantage of billeting while at the Ted Ho
uk Regatta. Please send billeting requests to Kristi Guay at theseattlegua
ys@gmail.com with the time and date of arrival\, number of billets\, age\,
and gender of all billets. Since all host families strive to provide the b
est hospitality possible for the weekend\, it would also be helpful if any
other specific needs\, such as allergies and dietary restrictions\, are not
ed. Requests should be made by the entry deadline of May 23rd\, although n
o request for accommodation will be denied.
\n
\nSchedule:
\n
\nA schedule
of events will be posted shortly to our webpage. It will essentially follo
w the schedule of past years\, with 1000m races on Saturday and 500m races
on Sunday. This year we will offer a 5k race on Sunday. To partially offse
t the extra time required for this event we will start at 7:30 on that morn
 ing\, rather than 8:00.
\n
\nWe look forward to welcoming you to Green Lake
 .
\n
\nRegards\,
\nJohn Cross-Whiter
\nSeattle Canoe and Kayak Club
\n
\n
