Northern Hardware Race

Come and paddle down the historic fur trade routes of the Nechako and Fraser Rivers in the territory of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nations people.

There are two classes of Race to choose from. The Alexander Mackenzie Class is a 67.5km down river race for more experienced paddlers. There are some challenging sections of white water. This class will take about four hours and is open to only tandem canoes with certain specifications. There are basic safety equipment that will also need to be carried including PFDs.

The second class is the Simon Fraser Class which is a 25km down river paddle designed more for the recreational paddler but will have competitive racers in it. There are no white water sections. It is open to tandem canoes, kayaks and also solo canoes, kayaks and SUPs.

The finish of the Race is at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park. There will be an awards ceremony and post race b-bq for all competitors and volunteers. There is also a raffle prize for all paddlers and race volunteers for a Clipper White Water ll canoe sponsored by PG Motor Sports.

Food Available: There will be post Race snacks from Save-On Foods and a b-bq sponsored by Integris Credit Union and Two Rivers Catering/Canadian Mental Health Association for all paddlers and volunteers.

Awards: Cash awards to Mens, Womens, Mixed and Masters classes in Alexander Mackenzie Class. Cash prizes awarded to to three boats in Simon Fraser Class. There is also a floating treasure hunt down the Nechako River during the race for sponsors prizes.
